Neizutso Mekrisuh

Neizutso Mekrisuh comes from Losami Village in Nagaland. Tenyimia Traditional Marriage and Culture (Tenyimia Kiya Mu Kelhouzho) is a record of Tenyimia marriage customs. Mekrisuh gathered the accounts from elders and custodians of tradition across twenty-three villages, and wrote the closing collection of stories, folk tales and essays on Tenyimia life, language and heritage. The book was written in Tenyidie and published in collaboration with the Ura Academy.

Among the Tenyimia peoples, marriage binds not just two individuals but families, clans, and entire communities, through rituals shaped by custom, kinship, and indigenous knowledge. Drawing on accounts from twenty-three villages, this book documents traditional marriage practices across Tenyimia tribes. It pairs them with short stories and folk tales on love, festivals, language, and the life of earlier generations, and closes with a study of dream interpretation in marriage rituals.

An essential record of Naga cultural heritage.
