Who we are

Xako Publication, is a publishing house that dedicatedly focuses on the literature of Northeast India, comprising of eight states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya and Sikkim—which is known for its rich linguistic and cultural diversity.

Northeast India has more than 200 languages belonging to three unique language families, namely Indo-Aryan (of greater Indo-Europen family), Tibeto-Burman (of greater Sino-Tibetan family) and Austroasiatic language family. So, this region is a hotspot of literary diversity, both in terms of oral and written literature. However, unfortunately, this diversity is not always accessible to the people of outside Northeast, due to lack of ample amount of translated literature. Xako has been set up to bridge this existing gap and to make literature from Northeast accessible to other vernacular as well as global readers through translation.
